*Master’s notes: quality: Filmed on the left side front mezz. Starts in the middle of Alexander Hamilton. Some washouts, but there's wonderful closeups

Lin Manuel Miranda (Alexander Hamilton), Phillipa Soo (Eliza Hamilton), Leslie Odom Jr (Aaron Burr), Renee Elise Goldsberry (Angelica Schuyler), Christopher Jackson (George Washington), Daveed Diggs (Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson), Okieriete Onaodowan (Hercules Mulligan/James Madison), Anthony Ramos (John Laurens/Philip Hamilton), Jasmine Cephas Jones (Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds), Jonathan Groff (King George), Sydney James Harcourt (Philip Schuyler/James Reynolds/Doctor), Daniel J Watts (Samuel Seabury), Neil Haskell (Charles Lee), Ephraim Sykes (George Eacker), Ensemble: Gerald Avery, Carleigh Bettiol, Neil Haskell, Sasha Hutchings, Emmy Raver Lampman, Austin Smith, Betsy Struxness, Ephraim Sykes, Kamille Upshaw, Daniel J Watts
*Master’s notes: The man, the myth, the legend. This year’s most talked about show, fully captured. Enjoy. This is a great capture overall; there some heads at the bottom and sides that can be seen occasionally, especially in wider shots, but they are worked around when necessary and rarely affect the action. There are no major blackouts, just a few quick dropouts, mostly between scenes. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call and playbill scans. Overall Rating: A

Javier Munoz (alt. Alexander Hamilton), Phillipa Soo (Eliza Hamilton), Leslie Odom, Jr (Aaron Burr), Renee Elise Goldsberry (Angelica Schuyler), Nicholas Christopher (u/s George Washington), Daveed Diggs (Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson), Okieriete Onaodowan (Hercules Mulligan/James Madison), Andrew Chappelle (u/s John Laurens/Philip Hamilton), Alysha Deslorieux (s/b Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds), Rory O’Malley (King George), Sydney James Harcourt (Philip Schuyler/James Reynolds/Doctor), Thayne Jasperson (Samuel Seabury), Jon Rua (Charles Lee), Daniel J Watts (u/s George Eaker), Ensemble: Carleigh Bettiol, Ariana DeBose, Hope Easterbrook, Karla Puno Garcia, Elizabeth Judd, Austin Smith, Seth Stewart
*Masters notes: Javier is fantastic in the lead role; he’s very different from Lin -- a bit darker, more intense, and less care-free, but just as passionate. The understudies are great as well, but Andrew is the stand-out; his nuanced performance as Philip is heartbreaking. Seeing the show with so many new faces proves that it has legs beyond the original cast and will continue to be a hit.
There is one short dropout over the beginning of The Story of Tonight, but the rest of the show is fully captured. There a couple heads on the left, but they only affect a small corner of the stage and never fully block the action. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call and playbill scans.

*Master’s notes: Well filmed from the back of the orchestra. There are times when the cloth the filmer uses to hide his camera slips down and covers a little bit of the lens, but he quickly fixes it. There is a standing ovation after the “Hello, Dolly” number for Bette, and of course at the curtain call.

*Master’s notes: A near perfect capture, shot fairly close to the stage so the picture is extra clear and steady with no washout whatsoever. There are a couple heads that can be seen at the bottom of the screen occasionally, but they never block the action. There are a couple very quick dropouts in the first three minutes. The sound is excellent. It’s filmed in 16:9 with mostly mediums and close-ups, and a few wides here and there. Includes curtain call.

Margo Seibert (Cathy), Zack Resnick (Jamie)
*Master’s notes: A fantastic production by San Francisco’s ACT. Zak and Margo give superb performances; funny, touching, and heartbreaking where needed. This is captured very well with no blackouts and just some slight washout in a couple wider shots. There is one head on the left side that leans in occasionally, but is worked around well when necessary.

Davis Gaines (Harold Hills), Gail Bennett (Marian Paroo), Cathy Newman (Mrs Paroo), Matt Walker (Marcellus Washburn), Joey D’Auria (Mayor Shinn), Rebecca Spencer (Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn), Christian Villanueva (Tommy Djilas)
*Master’s Notes: A great capture of this classic musical starring LA’s longest running Phantom, Davis Gaines. After a recent shoulder injury, Davis does the entire show in various colored slings; he pulls it off nicely, despite a little lack of movement. With a massive cast of almost 50, the show has tons of energy. Overall, Gail is the standout; her Marian transitions nicely throughout the show, and her rendition of My White Knight is absolutely incredible. There are a couple very quick dropouts in the first act, but nothing major. There is no obstruction and no washout. It’s filmed in 16:9 with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call.

*Master's Notes: Reunion concert conducted by Jason Robert Brown. A fantastic capture of this one-night-only concert at Avery Fisher Hall. Truly an epic night of theatre. No obstruction and only slight washout in wide shots. There are two quick dropouts in the first few minutes, but the concert is otherwise fully captured. Filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call with Jason’s speech, and playbill scans.

The directors and choreographer are from Broadway and have done tours as well. Many of the students from the school and at the school have done Broadway or are in a Broadway show now. Ragtime was nominated for 13 awards at the Connecticut Highschool Musical Theater Awards and won best male lead for Coal House, and many others. The set is fabulous and professionally done – The lighting design and projections are from the same person who did Wicked on Broadway.

November 2015, Broadway
Alex Brightman, Sierra Boggess, Spencer Moses, Mamie Parris, Bobbi Mackenzie, Evie Dolan, Carly Gendell, Brandon Niederauer, Isabella Russo, Jared Parker
*Master’s notes: Great HD capture of this great new ALW show. There is a 5 minute blackout during the scene after the opening song, due to late seating issues. The cast is phenomenal and Alex gives a sensational performance. High energy show with great songs and is so much fun! The last 11 minutes (which is the finale) ARE here, but from a different performance as someone was taking *multiple* flash pictures with their iphone in the row and was scolded and babysat those 11 minutes.

*Master’s notes: A fantastic new show with a super talented cast. The kids are phenomenal, all playing their instruments live on stage. Alex is perfectly cast as Dewey and leads the show well. A very nice capture with no obstruction, no washout, and just a couple quick dropouts. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call and playbill scans

12 November 2016, Off Broadway
Sutton Foster, Emily Padgett, Asmeret Ghebremichael, Shuler Hensley, Joel Perez, Nikka Graff Lanzarone
*Master’s notes: A good HD capture with all things considered. This was a very small Theater and almost staged Theatre-in-the-round. Part of the railing lines the bottom of the screen for most scenes, which also can block actors far downstage left. All that considered, still a very enjoyable rare capture and performances.

Waiting for Godot
24 November 2013, Broadway [VOB]
Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Billy Crudup, Shuler Hensley, Aidan Gemme
*Notes (not mine): Opening Night! Great adaptation of a classic play, wonderful performances by everyone in the cast. Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart have such wonderful chemistry together. First couple minutes of each act is audio only, but besides that it's an unobstructed, steady shot. Very minor wandering. Includes curtain call.

Jessie Mueller, Drew Gehling, Kimiko Glenn, Keala Settle, Christopher Fitzgerald, Nick Cordero, Eric Anderson, Dakin Matthews, Charity Angel Dawson, Molly Hager, Ryan Vasquez, Stephanie Torns, McKenna Keane, Thay Floyd, Aisha Jackson, Jeremy Morse
*Master’s notes: Nicely captured with just a few quick dropouts and no major blackouts. There is one head on the left that can occasionally be seen, but it never blocks the action. There is some slight washout in some of the wider shots. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call and playbill scans.

*NOTE from roundnessandradiance: I was at this performance, seated in the front row!
