American Psycho
5 June 2016, Broadway matinee
*final matinee before closing
Benjamin Walker (Patrick Bateman), Alice Ripley (Svetlana/Mrs Bateman/Mrs Wolfe), Anna Eilinsfeld (Victoria), Ericka A Hunter (Video Store Clerk/Sabrina), Alex Michael Stoll (ATM/Craig McDermott/Tom Cruise), Jennifer Damiano (Jean), Theo Stockman (Timothy Price), Dave Thomas Brown (David Van Patten), Jordan Dean (Luis Carruthers), Holly James (Hardbody Waitress/Harbody Trainer/Christine), Drew Moerlein (Paul Owen), Helene Yorke (Evelyn Williams), Morgan Weed (Courtney Lawrence), Jason Hite (Sean Bateman), Krystina Alabado (Vanden/Club Singer), Keith Randolph Smith (Al/Detective Donald Kimball)
Notes
*Recorded from sixth row side orchestra seating. Extra applause at various points due (most likely) to it being the closing matinee. Laughter during 'Everybody Wants To Rule The World' is due to Ben making faces and giving dirty looks to people arriving late.
*In my opinion, it is a damn shame that this show didn't last longer. The design is INCREDIBLE, and not only does it absolutely deserve the Tony for lighting, but this show is a perfect example of why the Tonys need to bring back the sound categories! Aside from the design, I was blown away by the choreography and dance performances. If you're going to see a show like An American in Paris or West Side Story, you expect top-level dancing. But 'American Psycho: The Musical' doesn't exactly scream 'excellent dance', and yet, there it was. Drew Moerlein especially was incredible. I can understand why the show didn't click with audiences or critics, but I absolutely loved it.

4 August 2016, Theatre Horizon
One-Night-Only Staged Concert Reading
Norristown, PA
Cara Noel Natosca (Toula/Rockstar Soloist), Mitchell Bloom (Featured Soloist), Sarah Braverman (Bandleader), Gabriel Brown (Featured Soloist), Will Connell (Black Fox/Henry Clay), Brandyn Day (John C Calhoun), Kevin DeJesus-Jones (Andrew Jackson), Jordan Dobson (Featured Soloist), Tamar Greene (Martin Van Buren), Catherine Goodson (Backup Singer), Laurel Harris (Rachel Jackson), Christina Higgins (Lyncoya/Featured Soloist), Ian Gregory Hill (Featured Soloist), Ruthie Holland (Feautred Soloist), Jennifer Pratt Johnson (Backup Singer), Mina Kawahara (Featured Soloist), Jaygee Macapugay (10 Little Indians Soloist), Brian Massey (John Quincy Adams), Dawn Loveland Navarro (Backup Singer), Pamela Shandrow (The Storyteller), Bren Thomas (James Monroe)
Notes
*Recorded from third row. The sound quality in the theatre was only so-so, but it actually sounds better on the recording than it did in person. There are still a few bits throughout that are a little difficult to hear.
*Overall I greatly enjoyed this concert! There was a pretty wide range of talent among the cast; the leads were excellent, and most of the soloists were great, but there were a few members who weren't up to the level of their castmates. A quick note that won't come across in audio - the laughter after Lyncoya shouts 'kill white people!' is because she punched Martin Van Buren.... who was played by a black actor. Oh, also, Henry Clay was "wearing" a squeaky dog toy like a fox stole and was constantly petting it and talking to it, and from time to time squeaking it. It was hilarious.

Come From Away
Come From Away
2 October 2016, Ford’s Theatre matinee
Washington DC
Geno Carr (Oz, others), Jenn Colella (Annette, Beverley, others), Joel Hatch (Claude, others), Rodney Hicks (Bob, others), Kendra Kassebaum (Janice, others), Alyssa Wilmoth Keegan (Bonnie, others), Chad Kimball (Garth, Kevin 1, others), Lee MacDougall (Doug, Nick, others), Caesar Samayoa (Kevin 2, others), Q Smith (Hannah, others), Astrid Van Wieren (Beaulah, others), Sharon Wheatley (Diane, others)
Notes
*Recorded from side mezzanine (right next to Lincoln’s box), parallel with the edge of the stage and next to a speaker. Great sound quality, minimal audience noise other than a few things here and there, nothing out of the ordinary. One man ‘whoops’ during Jenn’s song, I think maybe he thought the song was over (but obviously it wasn’t).
*AMAZING, cannot recommend enough. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen. Looking forward to seeing how well it does on Broadway; it’s a small intimate show, I’m not sure how well it will translate to a bigger house, but we’ll see! The music and choreography are fantastic, and the acting is incredible. The way the actors switch characters and manage to make every single one distinct… it’s just fantastic. If you’re able to see this before it leaves DC or while it’s in Toronto, definitely do that! Otherwise, make a point to see it once it opens in New York – it’s worth it.

20 June 2015, Bucks County Playhouse
New Hope PA
Justin Guarini (Robert), Candy Buckley (Joanne), Max Kumangai (Peter), Anne Horak (April), Kate Wetherhead (Amy), Chelsea Emma Franko (Marta), Susannah Jones (Susan), Jennifer Cody (Sarah), John Bolton (Harry), John Caliendo (Paul), Laura Jordan (Jenny), John Augustine (Larry), Steve Rosen (David), Gabrielle Ruiz (Kathy)
Directed by Hunter Foster; Choreographed by Lorin Latarro; Musical Director Will Shuler
Notes
*Recorded from the 4th row, very close to the stage and underneath the orchestra (which was on a balcony). Very good quality audio, but some audience noise. There was a gentleman with Tourette's sitting near me, and you can hear him at a few points during the show. The recording didn't pick up a lot of it, so it just sounds like a cough or sneeze every once in a while. He also was telling the person next to him the name of all the songs, and singing along to a few of them. Luckily, that also was not picked up by the recorder (it was very distracting in person!)
*A wonderful production! I was very impressed with all of the actors, as well as with the very imaginative set, staging, and 21st-century updates (for example, David spent a huge chunk of his stage-time looking at things on his iphone, with Jenny reminding him to put it away).

Notes
*Recorded from front row Grand Tier (lower mezzanine). The man seated next to me had a VERY loud laugh, and was often the only person to laugh at certain points. And on the other side, my sister-in-law was occasionally commenting on the action.
*A wonderful, WONDERFUL show. The cast used scripts more than some previous Encores productions have done, but it was no less effective; the scripts were disgused as Kilgore Trout novels and other documents. Very glad I was able to see this production!

Ensemble: Carleigh Bettiol, Ariana DeBose, Sydney James Harcourt, Neil Haskell, Sasha Hutchings, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Austin Smith, Seth Stewart, Betsy Struxness, Ephraim Sykes, Voltaire Wade-Greene
*Recorded from front row of rear mezzanine, sound quality slightly muffled due to location/distance but still perfectly listenable (better with headphones). Thayne Jasperson and Jon Rua were out, and swings were on in their parts. The laughter at the beginning of The Adams Administration is because Jonathan Groff was dancing around on his stool - you can hear Leslie break slightly when he catches sight of Groff and laugh through his line.

Notes
*Recorded from rear mezzanine, but sound is very clear. Includes talkback with several members of the cast. (some commentary during the opening number, because the people seated in front of us were leaning forward and blocking almost the entire stage. very frustrating)
*I was very pleasantly surprised by this cast, after having seen the original actors. Seth took a little while to grow on me, but he did a great job. I preferred his Jefferson to his Lafayette and conversely, I liked Daveed better as Lafayette than Jefferson. Austin was really fabulous as Burr. I had originally been hoping to see Sydney, but was really happy with Austin. Javier, of course, is masterful. He plays the role VERY differently from Lin, but is in no way any less effective. For Eliza, I really liked Alysha. Not sure why there are so many people who don't like her, I had no complaints. And as for King George, I think I actually preferred Rory to Groff. Couldn't give any reason, though, just personal preference.

*Recorded from front/center balcony. Unfortunately, I used a different recorder than I normally do, and the result is... not great. The sound quality itself is great, but it picked up a lot of background noise and there are pops in the sound and moments where it skips and speeds up the recording. It's still definitely listenable, but it is a bit annoying.
*Original touring cast is on with one exception: Julian DeGuzman was out, so Josh Assor (swing) played Finch, with Stephen Hernandez covering for Josh.

Once
10 November 2013, US Tour Philadelphia matinee
Academy of Music, Philadelphia
*Final day in Philadelphia
Stuart Ward (Guy), Dani de Waal (Girl), Evan Harrington (Billy), Raymond Bokhour (Da), Erica Swindell (Ex-Girlfriend), Alex Nee (Andrej), Matt DeAngelis (Svec), Claire Wellin (Reza), Donna Garner (Baruska), Kolette Tetlow (Ivanka), Benjamin Magnuson (Bank Manager), Ryan Link (Emcee), John Steven Gardner (Eamon)
Notes
*Recorded from front/center balcony (mezzanine level). Audio is super clear! Includes the entire pre-show and the BC/EFA speech. When Dani is listing what you get for different donation amounts, a man in the audience yells out "How much for you?" or something to that effect.
*There were three cell phones that rang during the performance, one short ring in Act 1, and two long ones in Act 2 - during the clifftop conversation and the a capella Gold reprise. You can only barely hear the ring during the Gold reprise (unless you have the volume pretty high).

Crazy dance-break in 'Cards', Alice wearing sunglasses all night, Jenn forgetting the words to her song, plus a special appearance by Duncan Sheik!

The Secret Garden
18 June 2016, Arden Theatre matinee
Philadelphia, PA
Elisa Matthews (Lily Craven), Bailey Ryon (Mary Lennox), Sarah Gliko (Rose Lennox/Alice/Robin), James Stabp (Captain Albert Lennox/Lieutenant Ian Shaw), Jeffrey Coon (Archibald Craven), Jim Hogan (Dr Neville Craven), Sally Mercer (Mrs Medlock), Alex Keiper (Martha), Steve Pacek (Dickon), Anthony Lawton (Lieutenant Wright/Ben Weatherstaff), Hudson Orfe (Colin Craven), Nikhil Saboo (Fakir), Joanne Javien (Ayah), Scott Greer (Major Holmes/Major Shelley), Erika Amato (Mrs Shelley/Mrs Winthrop)
Notes
*Recorded from 3rd row, includes pre-show and post-show announcements. I felt like I was in the bronchitis wing. The woman seated next to me was loudly coughing and hacking through almost the entire show, and there were two or three more loud coughers seated nearby.
*A really amazing production, with the most unique use of projection and set design; a shame that only Philadelphia gets to see it! Fantastic voices all around, especially Jim Hogan and Jeff Coon as Neville and Archie. And Bailey is a PERFECT Mary, a very different performance than her Matilda days. Wonderful production, highly recommended!

29 May 2016, Broadway evening
*Brian D'Arcy James's final show
Andre Ward (Minstrel/Snug), David Beach (Brother Jeremiah), Catherine Brunnell (Portia/understudy), Christian Borle (Shakespeare), Brian D'Arcy James (Nick Bottom/final), John Cariani (Nigel Bottom), David Hibbard (Francis Flute/eyepatch man), Matt Wall (Peter Quince/understudy), Brian Ogilvie (Tom Snout), Brian Shepard (Yorick/Shakespeare's Valet), Aaron Kaburick (Robin), Edward Hibbert (Lord Clapham/Master of the Justice), Gerry Vichi (Shylock), Heidi Blickenstaff (Bea), Brad Oscar (Nostradamus)
"Will Power" Backup Boys: Aleks Pevec, Eric Sciotto, Ryan Vandenboom, Bud Weber. Chef Trio: David Hibbard, Brian Ogilvie, Andre Ward. Ensemble: Tracee Beazer, Catherine Brunell, David Hibbard, Jenny Hill, Stacey Todd Holt, Aaron Kaburick, Tari Kelly, Brian Ogilvie, Beth Johnson Nicely, Aleks Pevec, Angie Schworer, Eric Sciotto, Brian Shepard, Ryan Vandenboom, Andre Ward, Bud Weber.
Swings: Matt Allen, Elizabeth Earley, Eric Giancola, Courtney Iventosch, Matt Wall. Dance Captain: Eric Giancola. Assistant Dance Captain: Matt Wall.
Notes
*Recorded from 6th row orchestra center. Includes Brad Oscar's speech to Brian, as well as Brian's speech to the audience and ensemble.
*HUGE energy on account of it being Brian's final night, the entire cast was on fire. At stage door, someone (I forget who, maybe Aaron) even said that it was difficult because they almost had too much energy and adrenaline, and they all wanted to make it special for him. And it definitely was special! Christian Borle's audition song about giving birth will stay with me for a very long time! The applause was insane at Brian's first entrance, and incredibly long standing ovations after 'A Musical' in Act 1 and 'Make An Omelette' in Act 2. During the first one, Brian broke character during the applause to look around the theatre and take it all in. During the second, several ensemble members turned and applauded towards him for a moment before returning to their poses, and Brad (I think) kept pointing at Brian, which made the audience cheer even harder.
